Frequently Asked Questions
Is NumLookup free to use?
NumLookup offers the owner's full name completely free of charge with our reverse phone lookup service. This means that for most phone numbers based in US, you can find out who is behind the call at no cost. However, for more detailed information — such as email addresses, social media profiles, physical addresses, and other background data—you'll need to subscribe to one of our highly affordable subscription plans.
We also provide a $1 trial that’s valid for 5 days, allowing you to conduct up to 20 lookups. This gives you the chance to try out our service and explore the additional details you can access before committing to a full subscription. It’s a great way to see the value for yourself!
Below is an example of information (owner's full name) that you get for any phone number, for completely free:
Why is the report masked if NumLookup is free to use?
You may notice that the owner's name is masked, as shown in the screenshot below:
While we offer free lookups, we limit the number of free searches to a few per day. If you see that the owner's name is masked, it's likely that you've reached your daily limit for free lookups. As you can imagine, there are infrastructure and employee costs involved in providing our services, and limiting the number of free lookups helps encourage our more frequent users to subscribe. Our goal, however, is to keep NumLookup completely free for the majority of our users.
Why do I see "This Phone Number is Blocked" message when I lookup a phone number?
The message "This Phone Number is Blocked" may appear when looking up a phone number because the number has been flagged or restricted for privacy or security reasons. This could happen for several reasons:
- Privacy Concerns: The owner of the number may have requested to have their information removed or protected from public databases, ensuring their personal details are not shared.
- Legal Compliance: Certain numbers may be blocked due to legal requirements, such as those related to sensitive or "covered" individuals, businesses, or entities.
These measures are in place to safeguard personal information and ensure compliance with laws and regulations.
Why do I see "Proxy IP Detected" message when I lookup a phone number?
The "Proxy IP Detected" error may appear when looking up a phone number because NumLookup has detected that you are using a proxy, VPN, or other anonymizing tool to hide your real IP address. This could happen for a few reasons:
- Security: Proxy or VPN use may be flagged as a potential security risk since these tools can be used to hide malicious activity. NumLookup blocks such connections to ensure secure and legitimate access to its services.
- Prevent Abuse: Proxies and VPNs can sometimes be used to bypass usage limits or perform high volumes of lookups, so blocking them helps prevent abuse of the service.
- Geolocation Restrictions: Some countries or regions may have restrictions on accessing certain services, and using a proxy may trigger geolocation blocks.
- Fraud Prevention: To reduce the risk of fraud or misuse of personal data, NumLookup may restrict lookups from users who are masking their IP address.
To resolve this issue, try disabling your proxy or VPN and accessing NumLookup using your regular internet connection.
